Dr. Thomas J. Honl, the youngest of six children, is originally from Wautoma, WI. In high school, a local dentist encouraged Tom to pursue a career in dentistry because of his determination and enjoyment of science courses.
Dr. Honl graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1975 and has been practicing dentistry in Stevens Point ever since. In addition to all the usual general dental services, Dr. Honl also provides Laser Periodontal Therapy, Sedation Dentistry, TMD/facial pain treatment, and dental management of snoring and sleep apnea.
In 1991 Dr. Honl received his Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) for completing over 500 hours of continuing education and passing the Fellowship exam. Then in 2008 he received his Mastership of the AGD for completing over 1,100 hours in continuing education. Achieving Mastership (MAGD) is a professional designation within the AGD that reflects a general dentist's ongoing commitment to provide quality care through continuing education. Dr. Honl as served as chairperson of the Peer Review Committee for Central Wisconsin and has been a mentor for Marquette University School of Dentistry students. He has many professional memberships including membership to the Academy of Laser Dentistry, Academy of Sleep Medicine, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and the Wisconsin Dental Association.
Dr. Honl maintains a state license to provide conscious sedation using oral medications to provide comfortable care for high fear and nervous patients. He is BLS, AED, and ACLS certified.
Dr. Honl has two wonderful children. His son Daniel is a dentist in the NAVY who will be attending his first year of Oral Surgery School in Bethesda next year. His daughter Ellie received her Master of Fine Art in printmaking and is an artist. In his free time, Dr. Honl enjoys fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing, reading, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
